The Center for Training, Technology & Incubation (CTTi) provides emerging to medium-size companies the opportunity to lease office and wetlab space in an environment that helps accelerates successful growth. CTTi tenants work in an environment that fosters communication among entrepreneurs; facilitates collaborations with Cal Poly Pomona researchers and students; while leasing office and wetlab space designed to expand with company growth.

CTTi understands the challenge facing emerging to medium-size companies when leasing space in the first years. The combination of a limited operating history, need for small but often specialized space, and unpredictability of growth patterns, makes for a real challenge. CTTi understands this dynamic and offers flexible terms and scalable space options. There is also the long term attraction of being located in Innovation Village, a 65-acre business/research park located on the Cal Poly Pomona campus.

Many CTTi companies are early stage with two to 20 employees, a management team comprised of founders, and first products entering the market. Tenants also quickly learn to leverage and extend the value of close proximity to Cal Poly Pomona from the obvious student talent and faculty expertise.

Those seeking to lease space will find that CTTi has demonstrated a willingness to work with emerging to medium-size companies with a promising product or service when income levels, business plans, or product prototypes may not be fully developed.

History

Founded in partnership with NASA

CTTi’s technology commercialization roots were established in August 1998 when the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and the College of the Extended University at Cal Poly Pomona signed a cooperative agreement to establish the NASA Commercialization Center (NCC). The goal was to develop facilities and programs that would contribute to the success of emerging companies commercializing NASA technology.

Early Results Led to Expansion

Strong early results led to a broadened scope that reached out to all emerging companies with promising technology. Partners that made this possible include Economic Development Administration in the U.S. Department of Commerce, The California Technology, Trade and Commerce Agency, U.S. Department of Labor, Southern California Edison and the College of the Extended University at Cal Poly Pomona.

Today

Today, CTTi is the unique entrepreneurial anchor of Cal Poly Pomona’s business/research park, Innovation Village; offering emerging to medium-size companies the opportunity to lease office and wetlab space designed to expand with company growth; and providing unparalleled access to experts and unique collaborating opportunities.

Access to Resources

Tenants find being located in a business/research park on a college campus creates collaborating opportunities and surrounds a company with an infrastructure only enjoyed by the large business community.
